Guam Flotilla Shines at 2025 D-TRAIN: Exemplifying Excellence, Leadership, and Unity in Service
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Guam Flotilla proudly represented the island at the 2025 District Training (D-TRAIN) held in Hawaii, exemplifying excellence, leadership, and teamwork throughout the event. Through the visionary guidance of COMO Jodie Nelson and DSO-MT Jack Ary, the 2025 D-TRAIN stood as a model of excellence—empowering members, strengthening partnerships, and reaffirming the shared commitment to Semper Paratus.
Flotilla Commander Laurie Alig delivered an engaging presentation highlighting the flotilla’s many accomplishments in boating safety, member participation, and community outreach. District Captain-Execution Dr. Matilda Naputi Rivera and District Staff Officer–Human Resources Ann Marie Trusso led an insightful session on “Recruiting, Mentoring, and Retention,” sharing innovative strategies to strengthen membership engagement and leadership development across the Pacific. District Staff Officer–Public Affairs Dr. Darlene Roberto also presented on enhancing communication and collaboration through effective media and community partnerships.
The Guam Flotilla’s outstanding presence was recognized during the District Oceania Awards Banquet, where the unit proudly received both the Flotilla of the Year and Core Connections Challenge awards. Individual members also shined with well-deserved accolades: Dr. Matilda Naputi Rivera was named the Oceania District’s Auxiliarist of the Year; Robert Sajnovsky received the Commodore Daniel Maxim Award for sustained superior performance; John Hernandez earned the Auxiliary Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Award; Ann Marie Trusso was honored with the Public Education Award (3rd Place); and Robert Vasquez received the Auxiliary Annual Service Performance Award.
Members also joined in a Sunset Fellowship at the historic Diamond Head Lighthouse, graciously hosted by Rear Admiral Sean P. Ragan—a fitting start to a remarkable D-TRAIN that celebrated unity, service, and the enduring spirit of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Biba Guam Flotilla! 🎉 Enjoy the following snapshots!
